Geography and Climate

Wuzhen is located at the northern end of Tongxiang City, in the center of the Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Huzhou plains. Historically, it was at the junction of Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, as well as the three prefectures of Jiaxing, Huzhou, and Suzhou. The town is conveniently located, just 13 kilometers from Tongxiang City, 80 kilometers from Hangzhou and Suzhou, and 140 kilometers from Shanghai. It is an important tourist hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Wuzhen has a subtropical monsoon climate, with distinct seasons and an average annual temperature of 16°C. Tourist Layout

The ancient town of Wuzhen is divided into four areas—Dongzha, Nanzha, Xizha, and Beizha—by a "cross-shaped" internal river system. Among them, Dongzha and Xizha are the main tourist areas. Dongzha is characterized by ancient streets, water towers, and covered corridors, full of the gentle charm of the Jiangnan water town. Xizha, on the other hand, is centered around canals, ancient bridges, and traditional architecture, making it a preferred destination for business tourism and leisure travel.

Dongzha and Xizha are the two core areas of the ancient town tourism. Dongzha is mainly composed of ancient streets, water towers, and covered corridors, typical of the Jiangnan water town. Walking through it feels like stepping into a ink painting. The cobblestone roads, small bridges, and ancient shops give a strong sense of history. Attractions such as the Dongzha Woodcarving Museum, Mao Dun's Former Residence, the Old Street, Fengyuan Double Bridge, and the Hundred Beds Museum not only showcase the traditional crafts and culture of Wuzhen but also allow visitors to experience the elegance and refinement of the Jiangnan water town. Xizha, on the other hand, is centered around canals, ancient bridges, and traditional architecture, making it a top choice for business and leisure travel. Attractions like the Mu Xin Art Museum, Bai Lian Tower, Mao Dun Memorial Museum, and Zhao Ming Academy not only display the art and culture of Wuzhen but also allow visitors to feel the weight of history and the warmth of human culture. Whether it's the ancient and elegant atmosphere of Dongzha or the quiet and peaceful vibe of Xizha, Wuzhen is a place that is hard to leave.
